History
After I graduated high school I went right into the work force. I always wanted to go to college but did not have the support to accomplish that goal at that particular time in my life. Then I married and raised three children. I was very involved throughout their development and early foundational years. I spent lots of time in schools volunteering, tutoring, and assisting. That’s when I realized that education was something I wanted to study further. From then on I have been diligently learning to shape myself into a highly qualified teacher. This journey has filled me with emotions, ideas, and mindfulness.
For Fun
I like to be active so a few of my favorites are biking, gardening, kayaking, and traveling. When I am relaxing I like to read, sew, crochet, cook, and soak up the sun.
Currently
I teach in a science laboratory setting for children in grades kindergarten through eighth at Wadsworth STEM School on the south side of Chicago. I find this position to be challenging and rewarding in so many aspects. With all the new changes, the most important is teaching engaging inquiry-based lessons that student can connect to their everyday lives.
